West Jordan police continued Tuesday to investigate the fatal collision of a cement truck with a car, but had tentatively ruled out alcohol as a factor in the crash.

Police Sgt. Reed Motzkus said Mary Ethne Stone, 2, of Herriman, died Monday from injuries suffered in the accident near State Road 111 and 10200 South.

The truck struck the car containing the victim, her mother, Melissa Stone, 24, and her son, 7-month-old Lawrence Stone, about 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Mary Ethne Stone was flown to Primary Children’s Medical Center, where she died. Melissa Stone was flown to University Hospital and remained in serious condition Tuesday, while the infant boy escaped with minor injuries, police said.
