McNeill reportedly punched a 35-year-old man in the back of the head without provocation Jan. 28. Police said one witness saw McNeill punch the victim in the head, while another saw McNeill standing over the man and taunting him.
The victim died in the hospital on Feb. 4 from swelling and bleeding in the brain, police reports said. The police said the man had no other medical conditions that would have caused his death.
Court records state that McNeill is on parole and had refused to meet with his probation officer after the fight. For that, he was deemed a flight risk.
In 2009, McNeill previously pleaded no contest to attempted dealing harmful materials to a minor, a class A misdemeanor, for which he spent a year in jail.
He also pleaded no contest to unauthorized use of a financial card and was sentenced to a year in jail.
