Davis County authorities are looking for whoever went through a neighborhood early Friday vandalizing cars and spray painting obscenities and a biblical reference on buildings.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Shane Archibald said the vandalism of two homes, an LDS church, and two vehicles in Fruit Heights, which occurred between 1:30 and 7:30 a.m. Friday, appeared to be random.

He said the vandals used green spray paint on the side of the LDS church to write "Psalms 144:1," which according to the American King James’ translation of The Bible reads: "Blessed be the Lord my strength which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight."

On a street about a half block away from the church, vandals spray painted an obscene sexual message on the garage door of a 65-year-old widow, he said.

"Kind of back and forth on their religious beliefs," Archibald said.

He said they also used the paint on two cars that were left outside overnight, spraying the doors and windows. Archibald said it appeared the spree stopped when the vandals ran out of paint.

He said the damage was severe enough that whoever was involved could face felony charges.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Davis County Sheriff’s Office at 801-451-4250.
