Prosecutors on Tuesday announced charges would be filed against Millerberg and his wife, 38-year-old Dea Millerberg, in connection with girl’s death last September.
Eric Millerberg is charged with a first-degree felony count of child abuse homicide and felony counts of obstructing justice, unlawful sexual activity with a minor and abuse or desecration of a dead body. His wife faces one count of third-degree felony abuse or desecration of a body.
Officials say Rasmussen, 16, died from a drug overdose at the Millerbergs’ home either late on Sept. 10 or early Sept. 11. Search warrants have alleged the couple were supplying Rasmussen drugs in exchange for baby-sitting.
Weber County Attorney Dee Smith say the Millerbergs took the teen’s body to a spot in Morgan County and dumped her there shortly after her death.
Dea Millerberg, who was charged last year with prescription drug fraud and child endangerment in two cases unrelated to the death, remains free on bail.
She has been ordered by summons to appear in court Feb. 22 in the desecration case.
