Seven Ogden police officers will return to duty after having been cleared of any wrongdoing in the shootout that occurred there last month.

Ogden’s interim police chief, Wayne Tarwater, said Wednesday the seven officers do not include any of those who were wounded in the shootout.

The seven did not enter the home of shooting suspect Matthew David Stewart on the night of Jan. 4, but were at the scene and fired weapons, Tarwater said.

Four other Ogden police officers who went inside the home remain on administrative leave.

"If they had any participation inside the house, that investigation is not yet complete," Tarwater said. The chief did not know when that portion of the investigation would be finished.

In all, 11 officers were placed on administrative leave after the shooting at 3268 Jackson Ave.

Agent Jared Francom of the Weber Morgan Narcotics Strike Force was killed in the gun battle, and five other officers were wounded.
