Utah County prosecutors have filed multiple forcible sexual abuse charges against a former Brigham Young University student, alleging he repeatedly groped two male roommates as they slept.
Antonio Rubalcaba Lacy, 18, is scheduled to appear in Provo’s 4th District Court later this month on the six second-degree felony counts. The charges stem from alleged incidents that took place in January and October of 2011.
According to court documents, police on the Mormon church-owned campus investigated a complaint that Lacy had repeatedly touched the genitals of his sleeping roommate in the Wymount Student Housing room they shared at BYU between Oct. 1 and Oct. 15. Further investigation turned up another alleged incident involving a prior roommate in January.
"After meeting with his [Mormon] bishop for two hours, the defendant issued a verbal and handwritten confession to engaging in each of these acts for ‘sexual stimulation,’ " Deputy Utah County Attorney Craig Johnson wrote in a probable cause statement.
Although Johnson expressed concern that Lacy might flee the state, the ex-student was not ordered to remain in Utah County and reportedly has returned to his family in Monterey,Calif., pending further proceedings.
Lacy had been arrested on Jan. 25, fingerprinted at Utah County jail and released without bail after being given a summons from 4th District Judge James Taylor ordering the defendant to appear for arraignment in Provo on Feb. 23.
