Feb. 6 » Thousands of fans in northern Utah flock to see the Olympic flame as it draws closer to its final destination, Rice-Eccles Stadium and the start of the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics. Torchbearers carry the flame on horse along the old Pony Express trail, on a boat in the Great Salt Lake (where a stiff wind blows it out before a back-up re-ignites it) and on land across crowded Antelope Island and through nearby communities.
