The gun battle — which started after police entered the Ogden home of Matthew David Stewart with a search warrant aimed at finding drugs — ended with six officers being wounded, one fatally.

Stewart, who also was wounded, has been charged with capital murder and other crimes, including growing marijuana.

The Salt Lake Tribune obtained the tapes through a request under the Utah Government Records Access and Management Act.

As the recording continues, officers again are advised to take cover.

"Don’t come on the scene."

Arriving officers ask, "Which house is shooting?"

Others demand: "Where’s the downed officer at?" "Where’s the downed officer at?"

"Who’s with the downed officer. Where are you located at?"

Then: "Suspect’s armed in the doorway. It is a red bricked house."

"Get down Jimmy! Everybody get in your position of cover. Set up a perimeter."
