A man was injured Saturday evening in Carbon County after his truck crashed through a guardrail and fell more than 100 feet.

Utah Highway Patrol troopers said the man was westbound on U.S. Highway 6 about 14 miles west of Helper when he lost control of the Penske and plunged more than 100 feet down the embankment, crashing into the railroad tracks below.

Troopers said the driver, who was conscious, had to be flown by helicopter to a hospital for treatment. He suffered broken bones but was expected to survive, officials said.

Troopers said the truck was blocking one set of railroad tracks, but trains were still able to pass through on the other set. A wrecker was attempting to lift the truck off the tracks late Saturday.
