A 42-year-old South Salt Lake man died Tuesday night, several days after police found him lying unconscious along a city street and arrested another man for assaulting him.
South Salt Lake spokesman Gary Keller said officers responded to a report that Kerry Brown was injured about 6 p.m. Thursday outside of a home in the 100 block of Louise Avenue (2885 South).

Brown was transported in critical condition to a hospital for treatment. Keller did not know if Brown ever regained consciousness. He said no weapons were involved in the alleged physical altercation that Brown was involved in, but declined to provide further details, citing the ongoing investigation.
Police said Brown died as a result of the head injuries he suffered, Keller said.
Keller said they are awaiting the results of an autopsy.
Officers arrested 20-year-old Tristan Hamel Thursday night on suspicion of aggravated assault. Hamel subsequently posted bond.
Keller said Brown did not currently live on Louise Avenue, wasn’t sure what he was doing there the night of the alleged assault and did not know if Brown knew Hamel.
Brown did live in the area as recently as 2005, according to court records.
