Salt Lake County residents can now call in complaints and health violations to the Salt Lake Valley Health Department via a new hot line at 385-468-8888. Officials say they rely on the public as well as their inspectors to provide information about potential problems.

Reasons to call may include:
Cases of food poisoning or infectious diseases, such as whooping cough, meningitis or salmonellosis.
Restaurant cleanliness and food handler violations.
Dumping into storm drains and waterways.
Excessively polluting/smoking motor vehicles.
Dust and odor complaints.
Public swimming pool violations.
Hazardous waste issues.
Noise complaints.
Public lodging (hotel/motel) violations.
Chemically contaminated (meth lab) properties.
Transient encampments and waste issues.
Cosmetology, body art, tanning, or massage violations.
Utah Indoor Clean Air Act violations; secondhand smoke issues in apartment buildings.
