The most recent restaurant robbery, at a Domino’s Pizza on Jan. 8 in Murray, is not currently believed to be connected to the spree, police in Murray said Friday.

Officers said three of the robberies took place in the Salt Lake City area, three in West Valley City, two in Taylorsville and one in unincorporated Salt Lake County.

While the first robbery was reported in early October at a Sugar House coffee shop, they spiked in December with seven taking place from Dec. 12 through Dec. 28. The most recent is believed to have occurred on Jan. 2 at a Salt Lake County coffee shop.

In each case, police report, the robber entered the restaurant prior to closing, brandished a handgun, demanded money from employees and fled. Police said the robber has been described as 5-foot-6 to 6 feet tall with a medium build. He covers his face with a ski mask or bandana.

"We want to get this person off the street before it happens again to stop the potential for anyone getting hurt in a situation like this," said Detective Dennis McGowan, Salt Lake City police spokesman.

State authorities are offering up to a $2,000 reward to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest of the robber or robbers. Authorities have said the FBI is also assisting in the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call West Valley police at 801-840-4000, Salt Lake City police at 801-799-3000 or Unified police at 801-743-7000.
