Manti • Two suspects in a crime spree that spanned from Utah to Nevada are now being called "persons of interest" in the December slayings of a Mount Pleasant couple.
But when, or if, charges are filed against Logan Welles McFarland and Angela Marie Hill in connection with the deaths of Leroy and Dorotha Ann Fullwood, ages 70 and 69, it is unlikely the duo will be returned to Utah anytime soon.
That's because McFarland and Hill, also known as Angela Atwood, remain behind bars in Elko County, Nev., and officials there say the intend to keep the duo to prosecute them on charges stemming from an attempted carjacking in West Wendover.
"Nevada has been incredibly cooperative," Sanpete County Attorney Brody Keisel said. "They possess Mr. McFarland and Ms. [Hill], and they certainly have a right to conduct the prosecution they wish."
On Wednesday, however, Keisel filed burglary charges against the 25-year-old Hill. The two counts of second-degree felony burglary and one count of third-degree felony burglary filed in 6th District Court are "added security for this jurisdiction" should anything happen in Nevada.
The search for Hill and McFarland started Dec. 31, when the Fullwoods were found dead at their home.
That night, Hill and McFarland allegedly carjacked a woman outside the Red Garter Casino in West Wendover, Nev. Prosecutors allege Hill shot and wounded the car owner, 35-year-old Rattana Lirange, in the head during the incident.
Hill and McFarland were arrested three days later in the Nevada desert after searchers spotted them from the air.
In a jailhouse interview Sunday, Hill denied her involvement in the crime spree, which police say involved other car thefts and a high-speed chase.
"This is not Bonnie and Clyde," Hill said. "People are making me out to be an animal, and I'm not."
According to an arrest warrant filed Utah on Wednesday, the burglary that Hill is accused of occurred Dec. 28 at a Mount Pleasant home near 3200 North and 2750 East.
The homeowner told police that two women, later identified as Hill and Allison Boudreaux, 45, came to the house to talk about buying a trailer, the document states. Boudreaux allegedly spoke with the woman while Hill and McFarland went through the home and stole a purse, a laptop, two guns and two saddles, according to the warrant.
Police say that was the same day McFarland broke into the Fullwoods' home.
Last week, Sanpete County prosecutors filed burglary charges against Boudreaux and two other people prosecutors say were with McFarland and Hill on the night of the break-in at the Fullwoods' home.
On Wednesday, Boudreaux, Damien Malichi Flores, 20, and Larry Dee McFarland, 27, who is Logan McFarland's brother, appeared in court via video links from the Sanpete County jail and they were assigned public defenders..
Boudreaux is charged with first-degree felony aggravated burglary of a dwelling; second-degree felony counts of obstructing justice, felon in possession of a dangerous weapon and possession of stolen property; third-degree felony possession or use of a controlled substance; and class A misdemeanor tampering with evidence.
A search warrant states that Boudreaux owned the home where Logan McFarland attended a party the night of the killings. She also owned a Plymouth Breeze, which McFarland and Hill asked to borrow that night, the warrant states.
Flores is charged with multiple felonies for allegedly burning items taken from the couple's home.
Larry McFarland is charged with felony obstruction of justice and a misdemeanor count for allegedly altering a number or mark on a handgun.
Boudreaux, Flores and Larry McFarland all were assigned public defenders. McFarland is set to be back in court Jan. 18. Boudreaux and Flores will appear again Feb. 13.
