Idaho law enforcement agencies captured an Ogden man Wednesday after he led law officers on a high-speed chase Tuesday night before fleeing on foot along the Utah-Idaho border.

The Idaho State Patrol, Utah Highway Patrol and Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office searched through the night but didn’t locate the man until Wednesday, according to UHP Corporal Todd Johnson.

Onieda County Sheriffs Office in Malad, Idaho, called UHP telling them that a man matching the suspect’s description was picked up by a truck driver and dropped off at a local motel at about 3 a.m.

The man was arrested by Idaho deputies on Wednesday for suspicion of giving false information to police and outstanding warrants.

A sheriff’s dispatcher said that contrary to earlier news reports that the suspect was in a multi-vehicle crash, pursuit of the man began about 5 p.m. Tuesday when a 911 call reported a "suspicious individual" in the Honeyville area. When officers spotted the man and tried to pull his vehicle over, he sped away on Highway 38 and onto northbound Interstate 15, abandoning the Jeep — which turned out to be stolen out of Ogden — when it ran out of gas near the Plymouth Portage.

A subsequent search, which included a UHP helicopter, was unable to locate the suspect Tuesday night.

UHP says the man will also face charges in Utah, including evading, possession of a stolen vehicle and reckless driving.
