Salt Lake City International Airport is eighth best in the nation for tech travelers, according to a new PC World ranking.

The magazine looked at the nation's 40 largest airports to identify those that do the best job of keeping travelers "plugged in at the gate and in the air." It looked at the average number of electrical outlets and USB ports per gate, the number of charging stations and workstations, and Wi-Fi and cellular service speeds.

PC World noted the Salt Lake airport has free Wi-Fi service that is faster than the 40-airport average. Other findings:

Verizon LTE had average download speeds of 4.3 mbps, while Sprint averaged 2.2 mbps, and AT&T and T-Mobile each averaged 1.3 mbps.

Gates provide an average of 5.4 outlets and 3.0 USB ports each.

The Salt Lake airport has 23 workstations (19 desks and four cubicles), most of which include power outlets.

PC World ranked the Dallas-Ft. Worth airport as best in the nation for tech travelers, and it ranked the Denver airport worst.
