Costume jewelry was stolen during an overnight break-in of a downtown Salt Lake City antique store.
Salt Lake City police Detective Josh Ashdown said someone broke through the front door window at Carmen Miranda’s Antiques, located at 241 E. 300 South, between closing Thursday and 9 a.m. Friday.

Ashdown said he didn’t know why anyone would break into the shop and steal less than $1,000 in costume jewelry, and said he wasn’t sure if the thief or thieves knew the baubles are fake.
The alarm wasn’t on, there was no surveillance footage of the crime and there were no eyewitnesses, so officers aren’t quite sure what time the thieves broke in.
Officers are asking anyone with information to call police.
