A man was arrested Saturday after police say he attacked a woman and attempted to steal her car in the parking lot of a Salt Lake City store.

The woman, 39, was exiting her vehicle at the Target at 1110 S. 300 West at about 8:45 p.m. when a man rushed up behind her and pinned her against the side of her car, demanding her keys.

The woman screamed and fought back, and others came to her aid. The attacker attempted to strike the others, and then fled on foot, according to the Salt Lake City Police Department.

Officers quickly apprehended the man, 36, and booked him into the Salt Lake County Jail on suspicion of robbery and assault.

No one was injured in the attack.
