UDOT: Avalanche control work slows Big Cottonwood Canyon traffic
First Published Nov 23 2011 08:13 am • Last Updated Nov 23 2011 10:00 am

Big Cottonwood Canyon was subject to intermittent closures through 10 a.m. Wednesday as crews carried out avalanche control work, delaying traffic through the area east of Salt Lake City, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.

UDOT also reminds motorists in Iron County to the south that State Road 14 remains closed through the rest of this year and into next summer due to a landslide that took out a section of the road earlier this year.

Motorists who normally use SR-14 are advised to use SR-20 and US-89 to Long Valley junction as an alternative route.
