The forecast for Thanksgiving called for a breezy, warm and partly cloudy day capped with the chance for isolated rain showers in the valleys and snow in the mountains.
The National Weather Service predicts northern Utah will bask in unusually warm autumn temperatures in the upper 50s with winds of 10-20 mph. Southern Utah will see highs in the 60s, also under partly cloudy skies.
With some higher-elevation snowfall possible, the Utah Avalanche Center warned that the Ogden, Salt Lake City and Provo area mountains carried "considerable" risks for dangerous snow slides, while the Logan and western Uintas districts were rated at "moderate" for avalanche risk.
The Utah Department of Environmental Quality awarded its "Green" or healthy air quality rating for all sectors of the state.
Salt Lake City expected highs for Wednesday and Thanksgiving Day of 57 and 56 degrees; Ogden looked for 55 and 52; Provo 56 and 55; Logan 46 and 47; Wendover 47 and 50; Duchesne 47 and 49; Cedar City 60 and 55; St. George 67 and 65; and Moab 59.
