A former Utah Highway Patrol trooper has been charged with multiple felony counts for alleged sexual abuse of a young girl.

Kevin L. Davis, 60, was booked Tuesday into the Washington County jail and charged a day later in 5th District Court with five first-degree felony counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child.

According to court documents, Davis abused the girl on several occasions during the past three years.

Davis worked for the Highway Patrol until 2004, a UHP spokesman said, declining to release additional information about Davis' departure from the agency.

Davis remained in custody Tuesday, with bail set at $100,000.
