A casualty of challenging times in the media industry too often has been coverage of entertainment and the arts.
At The Salt Lake Tribune, we're electing instead to bolster that coverage with a new website under development and updated print products that demonstrate our commitment to the arts and to helping you decide how best to spend precious leisure time regardless of your age.
Visit http://www.sltrib.com and click on the entertainment tab, or go directly to http://www.nowsaltlake.com, and you'll land on our new site, conceived and developed in partnership with MediaOne of Utah and Visit Salt Lake.
It includes all the arts, entertainment, food and recreation stories, as well as reviews, blogs, photos and videos produced by reporters, critics and photographers at The Tribune and the Now In Salt Lake weekly entertainment tabloid. It also includes daily "best bets" and other short features written specifically for the site.
We view this content as nowsaltlake.com's soul.
Its heart is a comprehensive, searchable calendar database that combines and builds upon Visit Salt Lake's Now Playing Utah calendar to provide the best source available of "go and do" information in Utah.
A companion, all-encompassing "food finder" and bar database augments http://www.sltrib.com's existing store of reviewed restaurants with continuously updated information and photos contributed by our staffers. Users are invited to share data plus their own reviews of more than 4,000 Utah establishments.
The site is complex. We're still fixing bugs and making improvements.
That's why now is a great time for you to take a look and tell us what you think. It's your resource; help us make it the most useful tool you can imagine by sending your comments and suggestions to email@example.com.
You can make your mark directly on nowsaltlake.com as well. Register at http://www.nowsaltlake.com/users/register, and you'll be able to contribute photos on each of the landing pages, add your own restaurant or movie reviews, contribute event information for inclusion in the calendar database or comment on articles and blogs.
Nowsaltlake.com is being developed as a tool deliverable to you on the platform that best suits your needs, so mobile applications are up next.
