Luckily for investigators, a 26-year-old West Jordan man learned the hard way that a vehicle doesn't drive when it's in neutral.

Police said they were trying to arrest the man Wednesday on a warrant near 7200 South and 3100 West when he dashed to his car. As officers surrounded the car, they said the man revved his engine. A detective reached inside and put the car into neutral. The man didn't notice and tried to accelerate, but the car wouldn't move. If the car had been in gear, officers might have been run over, police said. A detective shocked the man with a Taser to subdue him.

He was charged in 3rd District Court with four counts of third-degree felony aggravated assault and three misdemeanors..
