Syracuse

5K & 12K trail run • In conjunction with the 5th Annual Antelope Island Stampede Festival, Syracuse and Davis Hospital and Medical Center are sponsoring an 8 a.m. race Sept. 2. Register at 4528 W. 1700 South from 6-7 a.m. on race day for $40/5K or $50/12K. Cost includes festival entrance.

Health department issues bat warning • While bats are beneficial to the ecosystem, about 1 percent are rabid. These flying mammals are currently migrating through Davis County, and each year curious children attempt to handle them. Officials urge everyone not to touch bats, dead or alive.

Kaysville

Car show plus free ice cream cones • From 4-7 p.m. Sept. 7, peruse the array of two- and four-wheel vehicles at 141 N. Main St. Musical group Glass Onion will perform, an Elvis impersonator will drop by and free ice cream cones will be served at 44 N. Main.

Layton

Get a little "Footloose" in the "Danger Zone" • The Davis Arts Council is hosting famed singer/songwriter Kenny Loggins at the Ed Kenley Amphitheater on at 8 p.m., Sept. 10.
