A 79-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct for allegedly pulling a gun on people lighting fireworks in a Cottonwood Heights neighborhood.

About 10:30 p.m. Monday, the man walked to a group of people setting off the fireworks in a church parking lot next to his home. A person in the group noticed the man had a gun in his hand, booking documents say.

Cottonwood Heights police said the man told the person to stop lighting the fireworks or "he would start shooting." When a second member of the group approached to see what was going on, the man put the gun to that person's chest, jail documents say.

The gun allegedly used in the confrontation was found in the man's house, police said.
