A 27-year-old Logan motorcyclist died Wednesday night following a collision with three vehicles in Clearfield.

John Porter was northbound on Main Street near on 691 North at about 6 p.m. when he accelerated, changed lanes to pass a vehicle and apparently lost control, Clearfield police reported.

Porter struck a vehicle that was stopped in the southbound left-turn lane, police said. Porter was thrown from his motorcycle, flew into the air and struck the front bumper of a second vehicle waiting to turn left, police said.

Porter then rolled into a southbound lane of traffic, where he was struck by yet another vehicle.

The man was taken by ambulance to McKay-Dee Hospital, where he later passed away with family members present.

No other injuries were reported, according to police, who said the accident was still under investigation.

The crash marks the second motorcycle fatality this month in Utah.
