Two employees at a Salt Lake County smoke shop sold spice to an undercover officer, according to charges filed Wednesday in state court.

The employees each have been charged with a felony count of drug distribution and face up to five years in prison. According to court documents, a Unified Police Department officer went to Smoker's Source, 3951 S. Highland Drive, and saw spice in packets behind the counter and bought some on June 6 and 7.

The Utah Legislature this year added spice to the state's list of controlled substances. Spice is said to have chemical similarities to marijuana.
