A southern Utah man died after having a heart attack on his motorcycle Wednesday night.

James P. Kesling, 61, of Orderville, was riding his 1984 Honda Gold Wing south on U.S. Highway 89 near Glendale about 8 p.m. when he wrecked and was thrown off his bike, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

Kesling had an apparent heart attack while on the bike, according to witness reports and medical examination — causing him to veer off the right side of the highway, crash and flip over boulders and trees.

Kesling was thrown 300 feet from the highway. The motorcycle continued to flip about 75 more feet, according to a release from UHP. Kesling was wearing a helmet.
