Davis County will have its own prodigy on Broadway with the casting of Tade Biesinger, 11, as the thirteenth Billy in Broadway’s Tony Award winning "Billy Elliot."

Biesinger, of Bountiful, will alternate the role with current cast members Jacob Clemente, Peter Mazurowski and Dayton Tavares, according to Kandee Allen.

Biesinger trained at Dance Impressions in Bountiful, under Allen’s direction, and at Ballet West Academy in Salt Lake City. He performed in Ballet West’s Nutcracker as Fritz and also in Madame Butterfly. He is the winner of West Coast Dance Explosion "Mini National Male Elite Dancer" for 2009 and the New York City Dance Alliance "National Mini Male Outstanding Dancer" for 2010.

"He started dancing in the summer of 2007," Allen said. "He came and tried a class during a workshop. He joined a show team [introductory team] that fall. Then the next year he was put into our company and that summer he won his first national title. He danced in our company until November of this year when he was preparing to leave for New York City."

Allen said Biesinger left for Broadway in February, and has been rehearsing there. He is scheduled to open in the show May 15.

Beisinger also added classes at the Ballet West Academy to prepare him for the intense ballet in the show, Allen said.

"He is a super talent and a really enjoyable kid," Allen said."He is a character and feels like one of my own kids." Allen has had to keep news of the casting under her hat, she said, and is excited to be able to talk about it.

"Billy Elliot" is the funny, heartwarming tale of a young boy who wants to dance — not box. The show opened at Broadway’s Imperial Theatre on Nov. 13, 2009.

It features music by Elton John, choreography by Peter Darling, and direction by Stephen Daldry. The show is the winner of 10 2009 Tony Awards including Best Musical.
