A Cache County bus driver has pleaded guilty in 1st District Court to a misdemeanor drunken driving charge.
Tamra Gustaveson, 56, entered her plea Monday in Logan before Judge Clint S. Judkins.
Gustaveson was arrested Jan. 14 when police were called to a dispute between the Cache County school bus driver and another motorist. When deputies arrived at the Ridley's Market in Hyrum, Gustaveson had a blood-alcohol level of .091, Cache County sheriff's Lt. Chad Jensen said at the time.
Gustaveson had dropped off a busload of Cache County School District elementary and middle school students for the school day about 15 minutes before the altercation, Jensen said. No children were on the bus when deputies arrived, but deputies believe she had been intoxicated when they were on the bus.
During a search of the bus, deputies also found a gun belonging to Gustaveson, police said.
She was originally charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, a class A misdemeanor, and carrying a dangerous weapon under the influence of alcohol, a class B misdemeanor. As part of a plea agreement, Gustaveson pleaded guilty to the DUI and the gun charge was dismissed.
Gustaveson will be sentenced June 6 before Judkins. She faces up to one year in jail and a $2,500 fine.
