Volunteerism • Instead of spending her Saturdays hanging out with friends like other 12-year-olds, Katie Hanley has devoted her free time to the Humane Society of Utah. Since becoming a volunteer in May 2010, she has contributed more than 250 hours of community service. The United Way of Salt Lake recently honored Katie with its gold-level volunteer award.
