Everyone seems to be using social media these days. That includes the IRS.

The agency recently issued a release to help those preparing to file their taxes that it has a variety of online tools that can help them get the latest tax information and check on their refund.

For example, there is the IRS2GO smartphone application, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr.

The agency said the centerpiece of its social media efforts is YouTube, where viewers can watch three different channels in English, Spanish and American Sign Language. The channels include more than 100 videos and have been viewed more than 7.5 million times. Videos are also featured on the IRS Facebook and Tumblr sites.

To follow the agency on Twitter, go to @IRSnews and @IRSSenEspanol. @IRStaxpros provides news and guidance for tax professionals, while @RecruitmentIRS provides updates for job seekers. The Taxpayer Advocate Service has information available @YourVoiceATIRS.
