After the 24-hour Love Utah Give Utah donation drive raised about $800,000 for non-profits, schools and universities last year, it’s back to beat that record.
Once again, on March 20, people can visit loveutgiveut.org and donate a minimum of $10 to their choice among hundreds of organizations across the state. The drive is modeled after similar versions in other states, and besides raising money, is meant to draw people’s attention to smaller non-profits and the issues in their community.
"So many people hadn’t heard of Noble Horse Sanctuary, a tiny little organization that rescues abandoned horses," said Fraser Nelson, executive director of the Community Foundation of Utah, which helps organize the drive. "Last year they raised almost as much in one day as they would raise in an entire year."
While some of the non-profits are household names — The United Way, Tracy Aviary and Girl Scouts of Utah, to list a few — others are more obscure, like the sanctuary. See the graphic above for some of the smaller groups that anyone can donate to come March 20.
