A new Salt Lake City-based mobile game company has released its first title Friday, an app that is part game and part newsmagazine.

"Xac USA: 2014" by new company, XacFAQ, is a trivia game that is constantly updated live with questions based on news topics that are trending right now.

To demonstrate how topical the game is with new questions, the game will be updated live Sunday night during the Academy Awards with new questions about the winners, losers and events at the annual event.

The game is free and available for the iPhone, iPad and Android-based phones and tablets. It can be downloaded via iTunes or Google Play.

"We get so much information on our devices, we're giving you a new, fun way to digest it all", Jon Dean, president of XacFAQ, said in a statement. "If you're a fan of pop-culture, 'Xac USA:2014' is your quick, daily trivia fix. It's up-to-date like a website, a fun way to stay informed like watching ['The Colbert Report']."

Topics in the game include current events, movies, television, technology and sports, as well as questions based on current award shows, sporting events and holidays. The game is free but you can purchase new topics as well as "powerups" to help you in the game.
