7 things at the Utah Boat Show you never knew you needed

Sandy • The Utah Boat Show and Watersports Exposition continues through Feb. 9 at the South Towne Expo Center, with more than 300 watercraft — including a $1 million yacht — on display in 250,000 square feet of exhibit space.

There's plenty to see, including lots of things few boaters even knew they needed, such as:

Wondergel Advanced Seat Cushion • Designed, perhaps, for a captain's chair on a boat, these gel products make sitting for long periods more comfortable.

Happi Hoodz • This $60 item is a sort of uber-long sweatshirt with a hood. It hangs to the knees and is designed to replace traditional sweats to keep boaters warm when they get out of the water.

Wrap-It-Cool • Sometimes, when you strain something water skiing or boating too hard, you might need to ice a body part in a place where ice is scarce, if it is available at all. This first-aid wrap can provide as much relief in 90 minutes as an ice wrap can in 24 hours and doesn't need to be refrigerated.

Zoll AED Defibrillator • This portable heart defibrillator is offered to boaters and other outdoor enthusiasts who want to be prepared in case someone has a heart attack.

Pavati Wakeboard Boat • This all-aluminum boat is 20 percent lighter than other wakeboard boats, which means better gas mileage — and it has no rivets. It's pretty fast, too, because it is powered by a Corvette engine.

Ultimate Soft-Sided Cooler • Soft-sided coolers always seem like a good idea, but many leak and don't keep ice as well as hard sided models. This model, ranging in price from $39.95 to $79.95, is guaranteed to keep ice for 24 hours and not sweat or leak.

A stake in Still Water Lake Estates • A private water skiing complex being built in Syracuse includes two lakes, each of which is surrounded by 15 lots that include boat slips and covered shelters. —
