The Uinta Golf brand is back in Utah.

Once one of the state’s most prominent retail outlets for golf gear, Uinta Golf’s name disappeared from marquees two years ago when local owner Sean Smith sold his five stores to Edwin Watts Golf.

But Edwin Watts Golf declared bankruptcy in November. Last month, its five Utah stores were among 49 sold to Worldwide Golf.

Joe Judd, Worldwide Golf’s district manager for Utah, said the Uinta Golf name will be restored at stores in Salt Lake City, Sandy, Riverdale, Orem and St. George. Employees at all five sites will be retained, he added.

"We have been working for years to build customer loyalty and provide our customers with the best service, product knowledge and value in golf," Judd said. "We are committed to continuing that tradition."

The family-owned company has stores in California, Arizona, Hawaii, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and now Utah. Worldwide Golf also runs stores under the brand names Roger Dunn Golf Shops, Vans Golf Shops, the Golf Mart and Golfer’s Warehouse.
