Folks who enjoy hard work in the outdoors might consider spending late spring and most of the summer fighting wildfires in 2014.
The Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service and the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands are looking for wildland firefighters to start work in May of 2014.
These seasonal jobs may include working on a local unit engine, a helitack crew, a Hotshot Crew or other wildland crews.
Applicants need to be in good shape because the fire work often requires arduous physical exertion under rigorous conditions. Firefighters work extended hours in rough, uneven terrain. Camping out and moving around in a variety of outdoor terrain is a normal part of the workday.
Expect to do heavy labor, bending, lifting and carry gear weighing 45 pounds or more.
