Control4 Corp. President and Chief Executive Martin Plaehn also will become the Salt Lake City company's board chairman effective Dec. 31, Control4 said Monday.

He takes over the position from Will West, a company cofounder and its chief strategy officer. West resigned after 10 years, according to a news release, which gave no reason for his departure.

"The market for the connected home is enormous and I feel great about leaving with the company in Martin's capable hands and positioned to lead the industry into the future," West said in the release.

Control4 provides automation systems for homes and businesses.

Its shares on NASDAQ were at 16.94 in early trading Monday, down 0.05 percent.

The company on Monday said it also appointed Christopher B. Paisley as its lead independent director.
