Trib Talk: Choosing Buy Nothing Day over Black Friday
First Published Nov 26 2013 07:24 am • Last Updated Nov 27 2013 09:48 am

Millions of Americans will start their holiday shopping engines even before the turkey is on the table this Thanksgiving Day, but opponents say there is another way. Buy Nothing Day is billed as an international day of protest against over-consumption, and believers encourage boycotting Black Friday as a way to blunt ever-growing consumerism.

On Tuesday at 12:15 p.m., Jennifer Napier-Pearce explores the idea behind Buy Nothing Day with Jen Seals and Tribune reporter Tony Semerad.
