A University of Utah part-time master's of business administration program gained this year in rankings of part-time programs by the magazine Bloomberg Businessweek released Thursday.
The professional MBA program at the David Eccles School of Business jumped 28 spots, to No. 37, from its No. 65 ranking two years ago. The program improved in the categories of teaching quality, caliber of classmates and curriculum, according to a U. statement.
The school's executive MBA program,which offers weekend courses, remained ranked at No. 33 in the world, the same as two years ago. The full-time program wasn't ranked.
"We're dedicated to delivering our students the best business education in the world, and these rankings show we are on the right track," said Dean Taylor Randall in a statement.
No. 1 spots went to Northwestern University and Carnegie Mellon University.
The executive MBA rankings are based on student satisfaction survey and academic quality questionnaire completed by the schools. The professional MBA rankings are based on student surveys, post-MBA outcome measure and academic quality, which includes GMAT scores, work experience, percentage of tenured faculty, average class size, number of electives, and graduation rates.
