UTOPIA sharply reduces Internet service prices to Utah cities

The municipally owned UTOPIA fiber optic network said Monday it and its Internet service providers were drastically cutting prices for consumers.

The Utah Telecommunication Open Infrastructure Agency (UTOPIA) and Internet providers will be offering their ultra-fast 1 gigabit service for as low as $64.95, a 78 percent reduction from its launch price of $299.

The service providers are Beehive Broadband, Brigham.net, InfoWest, SumoFiber, Veracity Networks, WebWave, and XMission. Cities where UTOPIA offers services include Brigham City, Centerville, Layton, Lindon, Midvale, Murray, Orem, Payson, Perry, Tremonton and West Valley City.
