Firehouse Subs will be opening its eighth Utah location in Salt Lake City next Monday, July 22, starting at 10:30 a.m.

The restaurants are known for premium meats and cheeses piled atop toasted sub rolls and served with fresh produce.

The new location at 2121 S. McClelland St. is open seven days a week from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. It also is the first Firehouse Subs restaurant for franchisees Wes and Amy Boyack.

The restaurant is decorated with memorabilia donated by the Salt Lake City Fire Department and mural depicting the department's fire engine and firefighters enjoying an afternoon in Sugarhouse Park.

The firehouse setting is based on the founding family's decades of fire and police service.

The national franchise chain was founded in 1994 in Jacksonville, Fla., by former firefighter brothers Robin and Chris Sorensen, and has grown to 630 restaurant locations in 35 states and Puerto Rico. —
