Small businesses in Utah may apply for grants to offset expenses related to exhibiting products at international events.

The U.S. Small Business Administration and the Utah Governor's Office of Economic Development offer the funds through the State Trade and Export Promotion (STEP) program, according to a news release. STEP awards are granted for up to $2,250 and require a 25 percent cash match by the recipient up to $750.

Grant money may be used for airfare, trade show exhibitor fees, booth rental fees, freight costs of equipment and exhibit materials to and from trade shows, interpretation services and other costs.

Applications are due four weeks prior to international trade shows and/or missions, according to the release, and the events must occur before Sept. 30.
