John B. Lund, president and chief executive of America First Credit Union, was recently elected chairman of Credit Union Direct Corp., a national lending service provider. He has served on the CU Direct board since 2005. Lund has a long career in the financial services industry. He was named president and CEO of America First in 2012.
The Summit Group Communications, an independently owned Utah-based advertising and public relations firm, has named Christy Whitehouse and James Rabdau as partners in the firm. Whitehouse joined TSG in 2005 following a successful career in consulting, corporate marketing and agency leadership with Dahlin, Smith and White, where she worked on the Intel brand. Rabdau previously served as the agency's vice president of creative services. He joined the Summit Group in 2004. In addition, the firm announced that Sharon Roux, chief operating officer, and Jordan Howe, director of advertising account services, were promoted to vice presidents of the agency. Roux has been with the agency since 2007 and serves as the director of human resources in her capacity as chief operating officer along with overseeing information technology, facilities, administration management and finance. Howe, who joined the agency in 2007, leads the agency's largest team in account services.
C.R. England, one of North America's largest transportation companies, has announced the promotion of Brandon Harrison and Zach England, to the positions of chief operating officers. Harrison will oversee national, regional and Mexico divisions and safety. England will oversee dedicated and intermodal operations and serve as chairman of the board of England Logistics, a third-party logistics company and wholly owned subsidiary of C.R. England.
Zions Bank has hired Keith A. Schmidt as its executive director of its Premier Wealth Management division. Schmidt joined Zions from Union Bank, where he served as director of wealth management for the bank's northern California territory.
The Governor's Office of Economic Development said Jeffery Nelson, president and CEO of Nelson Laboratories, has been named chairman of the newly organized STEM Action Center board of directors. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Nelson will oversee the progress of STEM education throughout the state.
The Utah Sports Commission, a nonprofit organization charged with sports event attraction, Olympic legacy and sport development, announced that David Simmons, chairman & CEO of Simmons Media, will serve as the new private-sector chairman of the board of directors. In addition, James L. Sorenson, vice chairman of Sorenson Development, will serve as private-sector vice-chairman. Peter Mouskondis, CEO of Nicholas Co., has been named treasurer. Utah Senate President Wayne Niederhauser will serve as public-sector vice-chairman and Steve Miller, president of Miller Sports Properties, as chairman of the strategic advisory committee.
After more than 40 years of federal service spanning five decades, Ken McArthur, district manager for the U.S. Postal Service in Utah and most of Idaho, retired on July 1, 2013. Born and raised in Roosevelt, McArthur served in the U.S. Navy before starting his postal career as a clerk in Salt Lake City in 1976.
MultiLing, a translation services provider specializing in intellectual property and technical materials for global enterprises, announced that Adam Bigelow has been promoted to regional manager of the company's Asia business. Bigelow, who will also continue as MultiLing's country manager for Japan, will oversee the growth of the company in Japan, China, South Korea and other Asian markets.
