Provo-based telecommunications provider Veracity Networks is expanding its Internet and telephone services to Orem and South Salt Lake.

The expansion announced Wednesday will make its services available to an additional 13,500 homes and businesses.

"We feel very fortunate in a recovering economy to be able to expand our offerings. It's a testament to the support and loyalty that we have received from our expanding customer base. Our family is growing," CEO Drew Peterson said in a statement.

The company also is installing ADSL2+ and VDSL2, a next-generation technology, for its Internet service, which Veracity says increases bandwidth and decreases costs.

Veracity Networks also is the Internet provider for iProvo, the fiber-optic high-speed network in Provo that recently was bought out by Google to turn into Google Fiber.
