Miller Charities contributed $7,500 to YWCA Salt Lake City for children's intervention and advocacy programs; $3,500 to Art Access, Salt Lake City, for its Integrated Arts in Utah Schools program; $5,000 to Cause for Hope, South Jordan; $500 to the Murray Exchange Club; $7,500 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Brigham City; $4,000 to Two Rivers High School, Ogden; $5,000 to Westmore Elementary, Orem; and $5,000 to Mountainlands Health Centers, Provo.

New McDonald's

opens in Sandy

A new McDonald's restaurant, with amenities such as free Wi-Fi and a contemporary design, opened Friday at 11229 S. Auto Mall Drive in Sandy. The restaurant will offer daily specials throughout May.

United Way to

honor Eccles family

United Way of Salt Lake will present its Compassionate Leader of the Year award to the George and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation during its annual Celebration of Service event May 15. The agency also will issue its report at the luncheon, which runs from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Little America Grand Ballroom, 555 S. Main, Salt Lake City.

The Hallandale Beach Police Officers and Firefighters' Personnel Retirement Fund in Florida is suing Lululemon Athletica Inc., taking issue with a decision by its board to boost the maximum payout of the executive bonus plan just before a $60 million recall of yoga pants. The fund asserts that the bonus hike represents a breach of the board's obligations to the company and its shareholders.

B&N to add

Google Play apps

Barnes & Noble will add Google's Play app store to its 7-inch Nook HD and 9-inch HD+ products in the U.S. and U.K. The move expands the number of apps available from 10,000 to 700,000-plus apps and games offered on Google Play.

win scholarships

Five high schoolers will each receive a $1,000 scholarship from The Utah Jump$tart Coalition, in partnership with America First Credit Union, Mountain America Credit Union, Jordan Credit Union and Members First Credit Union.
