Sandy-based FLEX Core Processing, which develops technology for credit unions, was named 2013 New Partner of the Year by Orbograph, a supplier for the U.S. check processing market. FLEX serves nearly 300 different credit unions nationally and was honored for implementing new technology in the industry.

P&G 4th-quarter

outlook lags

Procter & Gamble's turnaround is still a work in progress. The world's largest consumer product maker said third-quarter net income rose 6 percent, helped by cost cuts. But P&G's fourth-quarter outlook came in short of Wall Street's expectations thanks to a continued mixed response to its new product introductions.

Sprint continues

to shed customers

The flow of new customers to Sprint stopped in the latest quarter, the company reported as it weighed the offers of two corporate suitors. Sprint Nextel Corp., the country's third-largest cellphone carrier, said it added a net of just 12,000 customers, the lowest for any quarter since 2009.

Ford profit up on

N. American sales

Ford Motor Co. said its net income had improved 15 percent in the first quarter, to $1.6 billion, as record results in North America compensated for losses in Europe and South America. Despite unsettled economic conditions in international markets, the company reiterated forecasts that its full-year profits would at least match its performance in 2012.

Durable-goods

orders sink 5.7%

Orders for big-ticket items posted the biggest drop in March since last summer, mainly because of fewer jetliner bookings, and the generally soft report added to mounting evidence that the U.S. economy has slowed again. Orders for durable goods fell a seasonally adjusted 5.7 percent last month.

Microsoft is inviting journalists to an Xbox event at its Redmond., Wash., headquarters that probably will shed light on its next video game console. Microsoft Corp. said the May 21 event will reveal a new generation of games, TV and entertainment. Nineteen days later Microsoft plans to reveal more details about its games at the E3 video game expo in Los Angeles.

Sprint, T-Mobile

delay S4 phone

Sprint and T-Mobile are delaying shipments of Samsung's latest flagship phone, citing inventory issues. The delays in the Galaxy S4 appear to be the result of supply disruptions from Samsung, rather than heavier-than-expected demand seen by the U.S. carriers. In statements Wednesday, T-Mobile said the delay is with "inventory deliveries," while Sprint said it's "due to unexpected inventory challenges from Samsung."
