Salt Lake City-based Kickstart Seed Fund, which helps technology startups get financial support to launch their companies, received $26 million in second-round funding and announced the hiring of two executives to its management team.

The money came from limited partners, angel investors and some institutions that Kickstart declined to name, according to a company spokesman.

Clarke Miyasaki, former vice president of global business development for Park City-based Skullcandy, was named managing director. Alex Soffe, former finance director for vSpring/Signal Peak, has joined as chief financial officer.

"We are big believers in the region — the quality of entrepreneurs, the history of innovation, the quality of life and the prospects for the future," Gavin Christensen, Kickstart’s founder and managing director, said in a statement. "Kickstart was formed to fill both the capital and leadership gap at the seed stage here, and our results show that it’s working."
