More than 130 employers are expected to participate in a job fair targeting military veterans and their spouses on Wednesday.

The Hiring Our Heroes job event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Salt Palace Convention Center, 100 S. West Temple, Salt Lake City. A free financial planning workshop will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Since 2011, more than 100,000 veterans and spouses nationally have found jobs through the Hiring Our Heroes program, a national effort to link veterans looking for jobs with businesses looking for workers. Utah Veterans and Military Employment Coalition, the Utah Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), the Utah Department of Veterans' Affairs and others have teamed up with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation and First Command to sponsor the event.

Walk-in applicants are welcome or veterans can register for free at hoh.greatjob.net; either way, bring proof of military service.
