Wells Fargo is based in San Francisco. In the past two years, hundreds of demonstrators upset with the bank’s foreclosure policies attempted to crash the normally sober meetings.
In 2011, protesters in San Francisco demanded an immediate end to foreclosures. Demonstrators charged that Wells Fargo had agreed to modify only a small percentage of mortgages that qualified for the federal government’s Home Affordable Modification Plan.
Last year, large crowds showed up in San Francisco to protest the bank’s lending and foreclosures practices. Some protesters made it into the meeting to demand that Wells Fargo halt foreclosures, end high-interest payday lending and forgive debts of borrowers with underwater mortgages.
Eight demonstrators were cited for trespassing.
