Nashville-based Heritage Group has made an investment in Aviacode, a Salt Lake City company that provides remote medical coding services and other software for hospitals and physicians offices.

Aviacode's cloud-based coding services allow doctors and hospitals to translate clinical documents into numerical codes for insurance companies.

"We are very pleased to partner with Aviacode, which has developed a differentiating technology platform and built a leading medical coding operation over the last decade," Rock Morphis, the investment firm's managing director, said in a statement.

The new funding, whose terms were not disclosed, will enable Aviacode to accelerate its record growth trajectory and increase its capacity to deliver medical coding solutions to new customers, he said.

Aviacode employs about 100 people in its Salt Lake City office and has another 300 contractors, according to a company spokesman.
